Projects

Within any constructive creative field, be it music production, space exploration or Art making “projects” having differing levels of development and subsequent success. I have decided against the common notion inferring that you “shouldn’t show everything” to literally attempt to publish online my entire singular and collaborative projects both successful and unsuccessful. Currently I estimate 2/3 off all larger projects efforts to have some form of documentation within this simple archive.

Why do this?

I see this attempt to openly publish projects not just to display the amount of work produced but more as a way to access these activities as a whole so we can ask important questions. Art and perhaps even music production seem to be lacking in objective accountability. “Its ok not to finish things, its part of the process”. Here are some question that perhaps we could all be asking ourselves:

1 Is there a value to projects/ideas that don’t get realized?
2 What happens to unfinished projects, where do they go, does anybody care?
3 Can we choose our projects/efforts more carefully to insure their success?
4 Is all of this success/failure a necessary process within creative field or does it just reinforce the stereotype that the “success” of an Artist is marked by their failure?

Further to this I propose that “projects” should not be done for the sake of it --“ I need to do some work”, the institutionalized mind repeats to itself. Let the wine rise to the surface.....

The logical assessment of this is perhaps only do a project when it needs to be done; ie some asks you or your losing sleep over it. There are enough things cluttering our environment as it is, be it physical, political or theoretical. Why add to this unless its completely necessary?
